Psalm Sonnet 6: Tired Eyes can't See
I get several nights' sleep to
Your one: head on the desk when I
Can't read anymore; on the couch
Before I admit my defeat;
Then in the spare room so I can
Sleep with the light on; then, lastly,
In our bed when morning has come.
How much more rested I should be.
But, instead, even my bones hurt;
My soul aches and my eyes burn--tired.
