Psalm Sonnet 7: Sword and Shield

If I do not relent, come back
To you from the fight, your anger
Is a deadly weapon that kills
What you meant to cultivate.

Our love keeps our love by acts of
Violence--everyday acts of
Violence that preserve what is
Good and lifegiving in our love.

Sword and shield, our love is a death
We cannot go on living without.
